Family Fun Night: Black History Month Edition!

We had a great time at our Black History Month Family Fun Night last week, with the help of corporate volunteers from BNY and community volunteers Ashanti York and Jasmine Whitley!

Partner families had fun participating in activities that honored Black historic figures, such as learning about Black hairstyles to honor the inventor of the hot comb, Madame C.J. Walker, and playing mini golf to honor historic Black golfers like Althea Gibson and Dr. George Franklin Grant, inventor of the golf tee. In addition to a nutritious meal, potato chips and ice cream were also served in honor of two Black inventors: George Crum, the inventor of the potato chip, and Alfred L. Cralle, who created the ice cream scoop.
