5th Annual Equity Awards
Thank you to everyone who attended our 5th Annual Equity Awards on November 14! We spent the afternoon among community, celebrating five exceptional leaders whose work advances our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Congratulations again to the inspiring honorees!
Helping Students Find Their Paths
On November 8, YWCA GP's Opportunity Pathways hosted a College and Career Resource Fair that featured a variety of post-secondary resources. We had 4-year colleges, community colleges, union representatives, and workforce development organizations in attendance. PHEAA also provided us with materials, and our corporate participants helped us create career videos for our PATHmakers programming. We look forward to growing this event further in the spring!
A Trip to IUP
Our middle school and high school PATHmakers recently visited IUP to get a glimpse of campus life. While there, they spoke with admissions staff, toured the campus, and attended an academic fair. Participants received resources on majors, scholarships, and on-campus clubs and activities as well.
Building Beloved Community
On November 17, YWCA GP team members Sarah White, Dr. Yvonne English Roebuck, and Sebastian Lacy attended Building a Beloved Community: A Peacebuilding and Nonviolence Summit at the University of Pittsburgh! The day included workshops, speakers, networking, and an awards presentation.
BNY Impact Award
Thank you to BNY IMPACT PGH for honoring YWCA GP at the IMPACT Pittsburgh Year End Celebration. YWCA GP's Volunteer Engagement Manager, Natalia Goodnow, spoke about our mission and work at the ceremony on November 13. Congratulations to all of the honorees!
Celebrating YWCA GP Staff
On November 4, YWCA GP staff members met at Commonwealth Charter Academy for a staff appreciation celebration! Our team played games, won raffle prizes, and enjoyed food together.
